GAVIN’S STORY

Gavin was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes in 2013

This diagnosis never hindered Gavin’s hard work and dedication as a student or athlete.

He is a warrior! He received a full academic scholarship to The Ohio State University which he upheld through graduation in the spring of 2021. He played on the OSU rugby team all four years of college. Gavin was also a camp counselor at Camp Christopher for four years and his electric energy still shines there at camp. His passion for guiding and connecting people around him was always apparent, and he always made you feel special.

He is more than a son to us, he is our best friend, teaching us empathy, and how important it is to live your life with passion and to always be present. The lessons we've learned from our son in his 22 years here with us are so essential to living a life full of meaning.

In Gavin’s own words

"Life is a precious thing.

Far too often people go about their days just going through the motions letting life pass them by.

It is important that we all take time every day to stop and appreciate all the good things in our lives.”

This space is not only for people with Type-1, but for their family and their friends, and even a stranger who may need your help.

It's important for us to raise awareness for Type-1 Diabetes, but it is equally important to spread Gavin’s positive electric energy through this Foundation.
